My 8 year old son had some sort of flu over christmas.On 3 jan he complained of tummy pain and has continued to do so ever since.He also complained of being very cold even when the heating was up and rest of family was walking around in shirt sleeves, he was under a duvet.He refuses to go to school because of the pain.Saw emergency dr at surgery who said it was a tummy bug, light foods and plenty of fluids and it would go.It didn’t so returned.Prescribed him merbentyl(Muscle relaxant)And sent him for blood tests.Still he complained of pain.Blood tests were clear except showed a hoemaglobin level of 11.5 which DR said was low so referred to paediatrician and for a stomach scan.Prescribed movical(1 sachet a day)And ranitidine.Saw own dr who claimed son was ’faking it’ for attention, hoemaglobin level wasn’t low, didn’t consider paed appt or scan was necessary but did up movical to 2 sachets a day.
Then took son to a where dr said it was stomach migraines, would need to keep paed appt to confirm and prescribed nurofen.Son didn’t want to leave house, go to school, cubs or swimming.Behaviour started to get erratic, kicking screaming when not likeing what he was told, he even packed his bags one night to leave as noone believed him.Then saw education welfare officer as son still won’t go to school, she believed son was suffering from depression and wanted him referred to mental health team.The web site does not have answers to all problems.Answers to specific problems may not apply to everyone.If you notice medical symptoms or feel ill, you should consult your doctor for further information see our terms and conditions.
